Necessity really is the mother of (re)invention, apparently. On our way to dinner the other night, Annika was catching a bit too much of the evening sun. I looked up into the kiddie-view mirror and couldn't believe my eyes.
My little bedouin had improvised a head covering that looked like nothing so much as a pink head scarf. "Is... is she wearing a pink shemagh?" was all I could get out. Mom turned to look and we both burst out laughing. Fortunately it stayed in place long enough for us to arrive, park, and grab a photo.
