The Mom Jabbar...

This week was Kimberley's Mom Jabbar, the test of motherhood that sifts out the mothers from those that have merely had children.

OK, ok, heavy-handed Dune puns aside, this has been a tough week for Mom. It started with Annika showing signs of being a little sick. Not surprising, considering she's been in day care for two whole weeks. Not long after, Dad got sick too.

By Thursday, Annika was just enough "off" from her usual behavior that a doctor's visit was in order for the next day. Unfortunately, by this time, Dad was well and truly sick - sore throat, green goo in the lungs, mild fever - all the classics, which meant that despite a pressing work project, the Doctor's visit would fall to Mom. As would all the bottle feedings that Dad normally does, and just about everything else. The Doctor's visit was worthwhile, it turns out Annika has an ear infection, which isn't supposed to be contagious, but showed up less than a week after one of Annika's day care classmates got one...

So for about three days, Kimberley was basically a Single Mom and had to care for a sick husband as well. I know it can't have been easy, so I apologize for getting sick, but she did a great job! Needless to say, she passed her Mom Jabbar.

By Sunday, everyone was getting better, which meant we were able to meet our friends for the fall Pumpkin Patch at Bates Nut Farm! Annika is now officially Four Months old, which is hard to believe in many ways. We shot hundreds of photos and had a really great morning, but for Dad, the best part of the day was than he was finally well enough to get back to helping around the house. More photos from the day will be on display soon, but here's one just to give a little flavor:
